"Outside of the competencies and objectives, I hope that students are inspired to commit to lifelong learning and set high personal expectations for quality patient care."
Years at ذكذكتسئµ:
I have been teaching in the ذكذكتسئµ Physical Therapy Program on the Glendale Campus since 2017.
What are your research interests?
I am interested in educational research related to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) principles in student admission and retention policies, as well as research related to social determinants of learning and learning disparities amongst students in graduate health education. Additionally, I am interested in clinical research related to knowledge translation principles in physical therapy practice.
What is the most rewarding part of being a member of the ذكذكتسئµ faculty?
One of the most rewarding parts is having the opportunity to work in collaboration with such a dedicated and passionate team of physical therapy faculty colleagues who are fully committed to the success of our students. I am so grateful to be a part of such a student-centered program. The other most rewarding part is watching our students develop into new professionals with a passion for physical therapy practice.
How do you engage students in the learning process?
I engage students in the learning process through a variety of techniques. However, my favorite way is through frequent, low-stakes, simulation-based activities that require problem-solving, self-assessment, and reflection.
What do you hope students learn from your classes?
Outside of the competencies and objectives, I hope that students are inspired to commit to lifelong learning and set high personal expectations for quality patient care.
Why should students enroll at ذكذكتسئµ?
The small cohort and low student/faculty ratio, along with our dedicated faculty and excellent student support programs, promote a culture of community and facilitate student success within our program. The options for enrolling in electives and independent study courses allow students to personalize their learning experience. If prospective students are looking for a personalized educational experience, along with access to state-of-the-art resources, a beautiful campus, dedicated faculty advisors, and knowledgeable, clinically practicing faculty, then they should absolutely enroll in the ذكذكتسئµ Physical Therapy Program.
What lessons would you like students to take with them in their professional careers?
I would like all of my students to understand the importance of using their knowledge to positively influence their practice, and to graduate with the skills and confidence needed to be professional change agents.
